Having previously invited me onto their excellent Hawkbinge podcast to give a hot take on Hawkwind's latest album Somnia, Andy and Matt brought me back to partake in a massive round-up of the 1970s episode, where I pontificate at length. All possible details from the guys themselves below:
The Hawkbinge NEW YEAR SPECIAL episode!
We're at the end of 2021 and we find Hawkwind at the end of Calvert's tenure, the end of their Charisma contract, at the end of the 1970's and possibly at the end of the band. What better time to take stock of the state of play both with Hawkwind, but also with Matt, who has been taking this first-time journey through the weird world of Hawkwind experiencing 9 studio albums and multiple changes along the way. What does he make of it all?
And, if we're going to be chatting about the 1970's, who better to ask along for the ride than the man who quite literally wrote the book on Hawkwind in the 70s, Mr Joe Banks himself.
Along with our very special guest we choose some favourite tracks not released on those studio albums, debate Matt's most dissed tracks from season 1 and, as a prelude to season 2, we get into a bit of "Live 79" alongside chats about Joe's magnificent book and the beautiful chaos that it is Hawkwind in the 1970s.
Thank you for coming on this journey with us, see you again for season 2...
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
